Kenyan coffee is generally classified by wet mill rather than individual farm. The Aguthi Farmers Co-operative Society have four wet mills (Thageini, Gaaki, Gititu and Kagumo), with the Thageini mill the second largest in terms of member producers (around 350 men and 100 women). The whole Aguthi Co-op has around 2,000 producer members. Once wet milling has taken place, the parchment is dried out and delivered to the Sagana Coffee dry mill.

Thageini wet mill is located within the well known Nyeri coffee-producing region. Nyeri County has cool temperatures and fertile central highlands, lying between the Eastern base of the Aberdare (Nyandarua) Range, which forms part of the Eastern end of the Great Rift Valley, and the Western slopes of Mt. Kenya. Nyeri town (county headquarters) acts as a destination for those visiting Aberdare National Park. Since 2018 we’ve been working with the Aguthi Farmers Co-operative Society to produce our very special Carbonic Maceration (CM Selections) coffee from the Thageini mill.
